I Married My Best Friend to Shut My Parents Up by Kodama Naoko is a sweet Yuri romance. At only one volume I Married My Best Friend will leave you wanting more of Machi and Hana.

The title is almost longer than the manga is. 🙂

I Married My Best Friend is also exactly what it says on the tin.

Machi Morimoto is working as a programmer but is being constantly hassled by her parents with omiai requests. Her best friend from high school, artist Hana Agaya, offers to form a same sex marriage with her in order to shut them up. It even works. Well, somewhat (but that would be [SPOILER DELETED]). 😉

Machi accepts, and due to the conditions of the “special partnership certificate” offered by Shibuya Ward[1], Hana ends up living with her. I don’t want to spoil too much of the story, suffice it to say that I was quite charmed by the slowly growing romance between the two.

Picking up this single volume from Seven Seas Entertainment is well worth your time. Recommended.

[1] Which is apparently a real thing, if still well short of full marriage equality.
