Where does the time go? As usual here are the top 5 posts on Pirates of the Burley Griffin for the 3rd quarter of 2014:
- The Reality of Idol Culture in Japan (February 2013)
- Say “I Love You” (2012): Final Thoughts with Spoilers (December 2012)
- Anime Review List (periodically updated)
- Twenty Days of Haibane Renmei – Day 5 – Trash Day – Clock Tower – Birds Flying Over the Walls (January 2012)
- Harem, er, Sword Art Online (2012) (December 2012)
The top three posts haven’t shifted since last quarter, but there’s a surprising new entry and an unsurprising new entry.
Idol culture: the horrifying gift that keeps on giving. The latest instalment being of course the idols and their parents who were sued for breach of contract having boyfriends.
Say “I Love You” seems to be getting a lot of attention. It never quite makes it to the top (and to be honest is a long way short of the idol culture post), but has been in the top 5 all year now.
Always good to see the Anime Review list get used as the convenient index I intended it to be. I’m open to suggestions on how to improve the page, so please leave a comment if you’ve got any ideas.
I’m really surprised by the sudden appearance of not only a Haibane Renmei but by that post in particular. When I take a look at the all-time stats, the two most popular Haibane Renmei posts are Sub vs Dub and Who Were They Before They Were Haibane. Day 5 is 8th in that set, and has had nearly half of its hits in this quarter.
The harem, er, Sword Art Online rant post getting into the top 5 this quarter is rather less of a surprise. The second season should have finished screening by now, so I suspect collateral damage from season 2 searches.
Thanks to my readers who have made this the most successful quarter on Pirates of the Burley Griffin. July set a new record, but August and September came surprisingly close to beating that mark.
